Ever want to go somewhere, but not somewhere too far from a BART station?
OK, let’s put it another way. Ever want to not subject yourself to the vicissitudes of an additional transit agency for those last few miles or so, after already schlepping on BART?
Then have we got a site for you! It’s BART’s new BARTable, launched Wednesday.
According to Bay City News, the site …
…will serve as a one-stop shop for events and destinations close to a station, offering discounts and giveaways in a few clicks. The website will be updated daily to show destinations in San Francisco, the East Bay and northern Peninsula that can be reached by BART.
The site utilizes information from business review website Yelp to show places a half-mile away from a specified station once a user enters a search term for what they’re looking for, such as “picnic spots” or “museums.”
Partners include event websites FunCheapSF and Goldstar, which will offer event discounts.
You can check out the calendar of upcoming BARTable events here. A pulldown menu lets you specify which BART stops you’d like to stick close to, though come to think of it, that may not be the best way to plan an unforgettable evening.
