I didn’t get a chance until now to watch Klay Thompson’s other-worldly performance at the Oracle Arena Friday night, when he set a record for most points in a single quarter with 37.
I don’t know about you, but I was deeply disappointed that his eighth shot hit the rim before getting a fortuitous bounce into the basket. Klay, you can do better.
Thompson finished the game against the Sacramento Kings with a career-best 52 points. During that 12 minutes of unconscious shooting, he went 13 for 13, including an NBA-record nine 3-pointers. He also sunk two free throws.
Before Thompson’s feat, George Gervin and Carmelo Anthony were the twin record-holders for most points in a quarter, with 33 each.
